"Living Life Like It's Golden"

The dogs days of summer are almost over and back to school days are here again. Fall and Winter season is amongst us but don’t fret…..you still can get the look of sun kissed skin.
Still want keep the look of sun kissed skin throughout the year and
“Live Life Like It’s Golden”??
Then I suggest you start with a “Bronzer”.

Don’t be intimated by all the Bronzers on the markets. Use these helpful tips and guide on how to apply your bronzer in just the right place.

How to Use Bronzer

Bronzer is a great staple for any beauty bag. It can make your skin look sun-kissed even when it's protected with sunscreen. It can also wake up tired, pasty skin. Here are some tried-and-true tips for proper application.

The Must-Hit Spots for Bronzer
Bronzer looks best when applied lightly to all the spots where the sun naturally shines (the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin). Bronzer is not just for the faces…try it on your bust, chest and shoulders. Who says you can go there???

Don't Go Too Dark
Most bronzers come in light, medium and dark bronzers. Choose a shade that's no more than two shades darker than your skin. Keep in mind you might need a different shade in winter than summer, when your skin is naturally darker.

If you're fair and sunburn easily, peach or pink bronzers are a great choice. Copper shades are nice on olive skin tones, while darker shades are perfect for dark skin. Avoid orange shades, which can look unnatural.

How to Choose the Right Bronzer
Powder-based bronzer is best for oily or normal skin. Use a short, fluffy blush brush to apply, but first blow excess bronzer off brush before application or you risk going overboard with color. Cream- or gel-based bronzers work best for dry skin. Apply with finger or a sponge. As with most cream-based beauty products, it's important to blend well into skin or you risk looking like a clown.

Don't Forget Blush
Bronzer alone can appear dull. For a dewy look, apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. The combination of bronzer and cream blush is absolutely gorgeous. According to makeup artist Bobbi Brown, bronzer looks best on days you don't wear a lot of foundation.

Still confused on where to put your bronzer…use this chart as your guide and always remember to apply your bronzer on where sun the hits the skin!!!

Happy Bronzing!!!!!!!!!

Urban Ink Photo Shoot

Just finished a photo shoot for Urban Ink Magazine, Tattoo Magazine for people of color.
The magazine is showcasing models with ink and flaunt what there tattoos mean to them.

It was a blast. Working with the photographer and models was a great time!!!!
The look for this shoot was COLORISTIC. I wanted to infuse color on the models lips and eyes. So I came up with the Candy Colors. It kind of puts me in the mind of a Sweet Tart Candy wrapping. I LOVE playing color!!! A lot of my clientele are more in tune with the natural look so this was a chance to use more color and make the eyes and lips pop!!!

The photographer Tobe was a joy to work with. His artisticoutlook on using the lens is amazing.
I can’t wait to see when the issue is published. If you’re a person of color and would like to show your creative Ink maybe you too can be featured.

Getting The Most Out of Your Mascara

Do you ever notice how amazing the model’s eyelashes look in the beauty shots for cosmetics ads? Of course they do! They have makeup artists who spend hours making the model's lashes look perfect. Makeup artists on use anywhere from three to five different types of mascara, a lash comb, a toothpick, and a tweezers to make each lash stand up just right.

If you had a makeup artist poring over your eyelashes for three unbelievable hours then yours would, too. But let’s get real! There are a few basic things you can do to make the most out of whatever mascara you are using:

1. Replace your mascara every 3 months - old mascara doesn’t go on smoothly, making your lashes dry, short and clumpy looking. If you are on a budget, try to find a great drugstore brand.
Get a hand mirror - when you apply your mascara, hold the mirror down by your nose and look into it. This will allow you to see the root all the way to tips of your eyelashes and gives you the best length possible for application.

2. Wiggle and Pull - wiggle the brush back and forth to ensure your lashes grab the most mascara possible from the wand. It’s great for volume and length.

3. Go Slow - practice your mascara application technique and take time out of your makeup applying routine to devote to applying your mascara. Great lashes make a big difference!
